Position Summary
Manage and direct all athletic training duties including prevention, evaluation, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Coordinate all athletic department insurance procedures. Read, understand, and follow all University, Cascade Conference and NAIA rules, guidelines, policies. This is a 1.0 FTE position.
Essential Functions
- Implement injury prevention procedures for athletes.
- Evaluate and provide immediate care for all injuries.
- Keep accurate records on all injuries and treatments.
- Communicate with coaches relative to athletes’ fitness to participate.
- Provide necessary athletic training duties for all home athletic contests.
- Work under the supervision of the family or team physician as appropriate.
- Manage the training room and maintain appropriate equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate all insurance procedures with student-athletes, coaches, and the Human Resource Department. Perform an insurance check on every athlete before any athlete participates in any part of the athletic program.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Education/Experience/Skills
Mandatory
- Certification as an athletic trainer (ATC).
- Masters degree in Athletic Training or closely related field and/or equivalent experience. BOC certified or eligible and eligible for Licensed or eligible in the State of Washington.
- Two years of experience in athletic training.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
- Possess current, recognized certification in First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne pathogens training, or commit to becoming so certified before practices begin.
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination
- Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues
Preferred
- Doctoral degree in athletically oriented field or related field and or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years of experience in athletic training.
- Proven quality organizational and leadership skills.
- Proven interpersonal, written, and verbal presentation skills.
Working Environment
- Work is generally performed indoors & outdoors in a gym, field or training room setting.
- Some weekend/evening work required.
- Travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
- Position works with strictly confidential information (HIPPA Act).
- Requires work in outdoor weather conditions, including wet, cold, and heat.
- Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for periods of time.
- Work requires occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and bloodborne pathogens.
- May be exposed to loud noise levels.
Physical Demands
The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
Compensation
Based on education and experience, the compensation range starts at $26.63 per hour/$55,401 per year to a median of $31.73 per hour/$66,000 per year.
