We Don’t Just Prepare You for a Career. We Prepare You for Life.
The world is changing at a rapid pace. Careers that are in demand today, may not be tomorrow. At the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), we prepare students who are critical and creative thinkers—skilled communicators who can adapt and succeed in this ever-changing world. Some students train for specific careers that are highly technical, such as exercise science or audio production. Others take a broader approach that prepare them for a vast array of job opportunities. Both are equipped in a Jesus-first community with the skills that today’s employers are seeking.
Liberal Arts: The Foundation of the University
The term “Arts” in our name refers to the Humanities, areas that students have studied for centuries like English and Communication. Rather than just learning a specific set of skills for a specific job, liberal arts students are exposed to a wide range of subjects. This flexibility and adaptability is highly valued in today’s job market, where employees are expected to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and industries.
State-of-the-art STEM
The College of Arts and Sciences shares the Argue Health Sciences building with other colleges devoted to healthcare: the Buntain College of Nursing and our two graduate programs set to launch in the coming years: Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies. Therefore, our laboratory facilities offer unparalleled opportunities to learn the hard sciences of Pre-Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science.
Cross-Cultural Experiences
From domestic trips within the USA to international travels to far-flung places (e.g., Australia, England, and Germany), CAS trips are pilgrimages in the broadest sense—educational journeys with personal spiritual impact where travelers learn about God, other cultures, their fellow students, and themselves. And in the increasingly global world, this experience is invaluable.
What Could You Be Doing as a CAS Major?
Directing an original play, solving complex mathematical formulas, finishing a novel draft, recording a podcast, adding content to a public history website, researching replicating RNA with scientists, performing in a drumline, developing as a pianist, training student athletes in their fitness, role-playing the Renaissance, traveling to a national park to view nature, and more.
What Real-World Experiences Are Provided by the Program?
All programs in the College of Arts and Sciences require students to participate in an internship. Many of these internships end up being significant career-builders, like our science students who have interned at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
Health Care Is Growing. You Can Grow With It.
ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ offers several proven paths into the booming field of health care. Some, like exercise science and our pre-med track, are in the College of Arts and Sciences. Others, such as nursing, are offered by other departments within the university. And you can continue to grow your career with our Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program. Regardless of department, all have a single goal: To educate you to serve in the health care field with excellence and with the compassion of Jesus Christ.

Word from the College of Arts and Sciences
“Some of the oldest disciplines in the university model find their home in the liberal arts. Because all truth is God’s truth, C.A.S. students discover things about their Creator in a science lab, on a math test, in an orchestra chair, or with their nose in a primary source than they even might in a robust theology course. This discovery results from our amazing faculty, who are committed to unlocking students’ intellectual curiosity and deep wonder.”

Why Choose the College of Arts and Sciences at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ?
Students choose the CAS for various reasons. Some reach their decision because of NU’s state-of-the-art audio technology program, . This program includes instruction from Grammy-winning music engineer Steve Smith where students train in a fully functioning commercial recording studio. Others reach their decision because of our expert science professors’ knowledge and willingness to mentor aspiring scientists. While decisions are made for different reasons, students choose our programs because they are designed to prepare them well for careers as they master a broad set of skills.
My education from NU was engaging and taught me how to think critically about the range of issues facing our nation and world.
